Albert R Swafford, M.D.
Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
Practice Limited to Treatment of the Upper Extremities

When your surgery is completed, members of your surgical team take you to the revovery room. There a nurse assist you with your revovery from the anesthesic. Usually a family member or friend is brought to the recovery room to be with you. Gernerally you spend 45 minutes to an hour in recovery. The post operative instructions are reveiwed and you are reminded of your first post operative office visit. It is very important that some one is with you since you should not drive youself on the day of surgery. Also, patients usually forget the time in recovery and the postoperitive instructions. This is because of some residuals of the anethesia.
